G-Hold's inventor Alison was interviewed by The Sun newspaper, who have dubbed her "Scotland's answer to Joy," after Joy Mangano, the inventor of the Miracle Mop played on screen by Jennifer Lawrence.

Alison talked really honestly about difficult times with the business and overcoming challenges as an inventor and as a mum, to see G-Hold used by Suzi Perry on Formula 1 and about to be featured on the Home Shopping Network in the USA. You can read the full article on the Sun's website.

New testimonial for G-Hold

We just had to share this brilliant customer feedback that we just received.

"I just wanted to pass on a little story to you...

On Saturday I was watching the Grand Prix and noticed Suzi Perry was using a novel way of holding her iPad securely. Clearly this made presenting much easier, and “ding" I thought, as the lightbulb flashed on in my head. I could do with one of those, so the hunt began.

I placed my order Sat night and by Tuesday it had arrived. I made the simple attachment and there it was, the solution. No more trying to fold geometric shapes to make a stand or leaning against books or inadvertently tapping on the side of the screen whilst moving it and losing whatever was that I was trying to view.

"There it was, the solution."

Anyhow, the purpose of this email is to pass on some positive feedback to your company. I love the G-Hold, it's simple, stylish and very, very functional. Great design with an efficient service, and also its encouraging to see that you are a British company investing in British manufacturing.

I now see a wider use within my business arena and I am in the process of demonstrating the benefits of G-Hold to other partners within my organisation The fact that you are able to brand this product has ensured an even more positive response and a good uptake.

Love your work, have a great weekend."

G-Hold featured in Middle East Hospital magazine

Hot on the heels of the wonderful testimonial from chartered physiotherapist David Bowmaker (watch the video here), G-Hold has been featured in Middle East Hospital magazine, the definitive guide to hospitals and healthcare in the Middle East. G-Hold's ergonomic benefits make it ideal for use in hospitals and other healthcare environments, as it helps to prevent musculo-skeletal disorders caused by long term gripping of tablets.

Middle East Hospital spoke to inventor and CEO Alison Grieve about G-Hold:

Can you tell us a bit about G-Hold and your products?
G-Holds (www.g-hold.com) are award-winning, ergonomic handholds for portable devices, such as tablets, readers and mobile POS systems. All GHolds rotate 360˜, fold flat when not in use and can be stuck to the back of devices or cases either permanently (with the G-Hold Megastick) or repeatedly (with the G-Hold Micro Suction).

Can you give us an overview of your particular field of expertise and background of the company?
As I attended trade shows frequently with the Safetray, I bought a tablet for the convenience of working on the move. Finding it somewhat awkward, and nervous that I might drop it whilst on the move, I decided to come up with a new invention for tablets, using all the knowledge I had gained about the ergonomics of hands. That was how G-Hold was born. The G-Hold has been particularly well-received by professional users in healthcare, education and retail. It has even made a few appearances on Formula 1, with BBC presenter Suzi Perry using it live when covering the British Grand Prix!

What is your remit and why are you interested in the Arab Health Market?
Having conducted business in the Middle East with the Safetray, we know what an exciting and vibrant market it is. We were already aware of the significant investment going into healthcare in the region, particularly in Saudi, and, after having success in healthcare back in the UK, we decided it was a natural market for the G-Hold.

A physiotherapist reviews the ergonomic benefits of G-Hold

"I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the G-Hold as a great product. You can still use your iPad or your tablet, but use it in a good ergonomic position, and minimise any problems from holding it for too long, or holding it in a bad position.

David Bowmaker, B.Sc (Physio), M.Sc (Sports Science), M.Phty (Manip Physio), MCSP, HCPC, MMPA (Aus), is a Chartered Physiotherapist and Musculoskeletal Specialist. He contacted us recently to let us know how pleased he was with G-Hold's ergonomic benefits, and so of course we had to get him on video.

Here's what he had to say about G-Hold:

"Hello, my name is David Bowmaker, I'm a Chartered Physiotherapist at LifeFit Wellness in Falkirk. I just wanted to have a wee chat with you about the G-Hold, which is what I’m holding just now. With my tablet, when I’m working, I use the touchscreen for my notes, and thankfully about a year ago I was introduced to G-Hold as a way to safely hold my tablet.

"As you can see it means I can hold it very easily without dropping it at all, even in this position. What is very important to me for my own use of the tablet, is that the G-Hold allows me to sit up properly and have my neck and back in a good position, and my hand in a very nice, relaxed grip.

"Obviously for clients as well, if they have neck or back problems, then this could be a very useful device in terms of using their device without any problems. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the G-Hold as a great product. You can still use your iPad or your tablet, but use it in a good ergonomic position, and minimise any problems from holding it for too long, or holding it in a bad position, slumped, as most people do."

G-Hold simplifies travel - good thing, since the G-Holders are off around the world again

Mike DeSimone and Jeff Jenssen, aka US wine and travel experts the World Wine Guys, have chosen G-Hold as one of their favourite 'small things that simplify travel' in their latest Huffington Post article.

Mike and Jeff write:
"In the search for the perfect intersection of size and functionality, we have located some pint-sized pieces that overcompensate for their diminutive dimensions.

"Whether you are taking a photo, reading in transit, or presenting in a board room, you can keep a firm hand on your tablet ... It rotates 360° to change viewing angles, and folds flat to fit in a case or sleeve."

Read the full article over at the Huffington Post here.

G-Holder Alison is in the USA at the moment and sent us back this brilliant image of Lady Liberty herself (next to her sister - Duchess of Liberty?) holding a G-Hold in New York.

Pimp your 'pad - G-Hold reviewed on Travgear

Jamie Carter at TravGear.com has written a review of G-Hold and given us an absolute gift of a phrase - 'pimp your 'pad' - love it! Click below to  read the full review.

"If you’re like Suzi Perry and can’t do anything without an iPad in your hands, the G-Hold Micro Suction is for you. A lightweight plastic stick-on clasp that allows an iPad to be securely held in one hand, it makes hanging around with a tablet that much easier. It’s simple, ingenious stuff; you stick the 4.5-inch diameter G-Hold Micro Suction to the back of any tablet, extend the slide-able clasp and slide in between your index and middle fingers. The whole thing even rotates through 360 degrees, too."

Get a grip on your tablet with G-Hold at TechRepublic

Greg Shultz at TechRepublic has written a fantastic review of G-Hold, which you can read on their site here. He tried out the G-Hold on two different tablets, the HP Stream 7, below, and the Dell Venue 11 Pro, and liked it on both devices.

It's a really in-depth, great read, so please do check out his article as soon as you get the chance.

I attached the G-Hold to my HP Stream 7, which is a small tablet, and found it to be a great combination (Figure C). Up to this point, I rarely used this tablet out of its folio case because its small size made it easy for the tablet to slip out of my hands. However, the folio case isn’t perfect in all situations—it can easily fold down or close as I’m handling the tablet. With the G-Hold, I get the best of both worlds. Out of the folio case, I can easily hold and maneuver the small tablet. With the clip folded down, the HP still fits perfectly in its folio case.

G-Hold featured on Packaging of the World

G-Hold's packaging has been nominated for a Scottish Design Award, so Packaging of the World spoke with Adam Gourlay of Shaw Marketing and Design. Adam worked with our own inventor, Alison, to create the innovative look and function of the packaging.

“It was important to capture the style and tone of the product and present what is a truly innovative piece of kit in an appropriately attractive way,” said Shaw designer Adam Gourlay. “This is a product that is essentially simple, elegant and effective and we wanted all of these qualities to come through in the packaging."
